July 2023 Course Update

 

Vegetation Update

John Rothfield and Landscape Architect, Paul Mogford provide an update regarding the restoration of vegetation at Commonwealth.

 

Course Opening Video

With the course reopening in Mid February Adam Lamb gives an update to Members on the course and prepares members to walk around the greens and bunkers to protect the Pure Distinction Green Surfaces.


End of Year Update

Its been close to six weeks since our last update from Adam Lamb, this week he returns to give us an exciting end of year update which includes some stunning visuals of the major progress on the new holes.

 

Week Eight

This week we take a look at the lake, along with course development. We praise not only our core staff but also our green team too for their amazing support with weeding, planting material and helping control the algae in the lake. The growth mat has been reinstalled on the 17th green to protect the seed from any washouts with the heavy rain were receiving as well as the 13th and 15th green. All greens have now been seeded on the Northern Course. 

 

Week Seven

In week seven of our course restoration, Adam discusses the impact of heavy rain and the delays that has caused, along with an update on the development of the seeded greens, plans for tree planting and the maintenance of the Holes In Play. 

 

Week Six

In week six we take a look at the 14th which has just been mowed and receive an update on the seeding of the greens as 8 of the 10 greens are now seeded. Adam also discusses dealing with last weeks storm, as well as providing some updates on tree planting around the course. 

 

Week Five

In week five of the restoration we take a look at the practice fairway as well as the development of the greens. We will also hear about the removal of green seed mats from the 3rd and 16th greens, tree removal, hydromulching and an update on new pin positions. 

Week Four

Adam returns for an update on how the restoration is coming along. We take a look at the greens that have been seeded along with preparing for excavation of the 18th green. We will also see what Brian Slawnik has been up to in regards to the chipping green facility. 

Week Three

Adam updates us on the progress of reestablishing the greens contours after excavation as well as having a look at the irrigation system going in, sprinkler installation on the 16th green and a look into the new fairway bunker.

Week Two

Adam updates us with the construction of bunker edges and lips with particle sand being compacted to send our green edges right to our bunkers lip, as well as the 2nd bunker getting shaped by Renaissance.  

Week One 

Week one we saw a lot of Northern Greens excavated with some interesting objects found under the 3rd and 16th green

During Brian’s visit, he took some time to speak to Member Bree Laughlin about the upcoming works to be completed over two phases.
