The Club is delighted to have two highly qualified teaching professionals in John Wade & Sandy Jamieson, providing golf tuition for both members and visitors alike.

John and Sandy are readily available to help players improve their golf and to reach their goals.

John Wade

John Wade’s golf credentials are well established, with a long list of personal achievements including Eisenhower Trophy team representative, tour victories in Ireland, a two time Vanuatu Open winner and the holder of the course record at both Victoria GC and Dunbar Scotland.

Competing on the PGA tour since turning professional in 1992, John enjoys combining his tournament play with the coaching and teaching of golfers of all ages and abilities. John’s coaching philosophies have been developed through his playing experiences under the guide of some of the leading coaches in the world.

He has been tutored for over 30 years by respected and renowned coaches Including John Davis, Bruce Green, Steve Elkington, Steven Bann, Dale Lynch, Gary Edwin and several leading UK professionals.

John Wade

This influence, combined with his experience as a touring professional playing tournament golf at the elite level, has provided John with a balance in his coaching between developing solid technique whilst also emphasising sound course management skills and the importance of the mind in getting the most out of the game for golfers of all levels.

John has worked at Commonwealth since February 2010, both in a Golf Operations role and as a teaching professional.

Sandy Jamieson

Sandy’s first job in golf was cleaning clubs at Box Hill Golf Club as a 14 year old, where he worked his way through just about every job in the club including dish washing and barman, as well as participating in all forms of representative golf for the Club.

Sandy went on to complete his Traineeship at Box Hill, which bought him success on the golf course as well as the academic award for his year. As a full member of the PGA since 1996, Sandy has been a career coach with coaching as his only source of income.

Sandy has had many speaking engagements over his journey including 3 time presenter at the Australian Coaching Summit and twice presenter at the national coaching series. Internationally Sandy has been a keynote presenter at the Dutch National coaching Summit and consultant to the British PGA and Golf Union.

Sandy Jamieson

Sandy was the Assistant coach of the Victorian institute of Sport and has coached many tour professionals including Andrew Tschudin, Jarrod Lyle, Peter Fowler, Y.E. Yang and Robert Allenby.

Coaching all levels of golfers from beginners through to Tour Professionals, Sandy has experienced lots of different personalities and people of all golfing ability, arming him with the skills to help you.

Generally, one of either John or Sandy are available each day of the week to provide tuition.

Junior Clinics

Our team run a number of fantastic junior clinics throughout the year. They are open to all standards between the ages of 8 and 13 and generally run in six week blocks. Contact the Golf Shop on 9575 0444 for further details.

Women’s Clinics
